Hello Magdalene readers! It’s now April, often said to be the cruelest month of the year, and while there is nothing to fear in terms of cruelty in the stars, this is a rather complicated time of the year. This month we see a number of planets going retrograde, and one of the key things now is patience. The issue is also that Mercury has now gone direct, so we could be rushing to move forward, only to find that other elements in the heavens want us to slow down. As a result, it could be a frustrating time for many of us and the big takeaway is that while you can make plans, it could also be that you need to wait for next month to see how these are going to work out.

5 April: New Moon in Aries
The New Moon this month falls in the sign of Aries the Ram and this is a good time for you to make a fresh start. All New Moons bring with them new beginnings, and this is really the start of the spring season, so you need to treat it as a time to spring clean your life. If you have things you need to get in order then, now is the ideal time to do it!
19 April: Full Moon in Libra
This is the second Full Moon in the sign of Libra and it is an ideal time to focus on partnerships, as Libra is the ruler of the Seventh House. For many of you, this could be the time when a relationship, be it business or professional, could come to a climax and you may want to make things official with a partner.
And now for a look at each individual sign…
Aries
Happy Birthday, Aries! This is your birthday month which means that the spotlight is well and truly shining on you, so you may decide to tweak your image somewhat or do something that changes the way people see you. This could be a new haircut or you may decide you want to switch careers, and while this is exciting, make sure you think everything through before you make the leap. There is also a lot going on for you under the surface now, Aries, and you probably know what that means. There could have been issues with drink or drugs lately, or you could be exploring your view of religion or spirituality in a way that you have never done before. Whatever path you are walking down now, the key is to explore everything that comes your way and take the time in April to think about the big questions. Who are you really? How do other people see you? What do you want out of life? It’s all about brand Aries this month!
Taurus
This month you have the Sun in your Twelfth House Taurus which is the house that rules introspection. This means that you could have a lot of thinking to do now, and if you have had tricky relationships with people lately then you may need to work on forgiving and forgetting. This is a very healing month for you – if you can learn to lean into the narrative that is! It could be that you also feel more creative now and you have so many projects and plans in the works. If that is the case, then by all means start working on these, but also realize that it may take until May for everything to come together as you want it to. The key for you now is to learn to embrace the unexpected, which is not something your sign does well, but this is all about letting go of the past and forging a new future. You can do it!
Gemini
The Sun is in your Eleventh House of friends and groups this month, Gemini, and so you could find that you have some issues to deal with when it comes to the people close to you. It may be that some friendships have become a little difficult, and this is the month when you get to spend some time thinking all of this through. As Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are all going retrograde at different points in the next few months, you may find that group activities stall, or on the flipside, you could come up with a great idea that involves a group effort. The trick now is really to try and spin your wheels a little while you make decisions about anything that involves a group dynamic and see what options are on the table. By May you may find that you plans have changed but in ways you never thought possible!
Cancer
This month you have the Sun in your Tenth House, Cancer, which rules work and ambition. It could be that you have a lot of thinking to do about where you career is going now, but the trick is to expect everything to magically work out immediately. You really need to start making plans now, perhaps by talking things through with others or just by making notes in a journal, but you also need to realize that it is going to take some time for these to come to fruition. It’s about grabbing career opportunities where you can, but also realizing that they may not run smoothly at first, or that you may have to go back to the drawing board several times before you get the results you want. This makes April a time of experimentation, so don’t be afraid to go with the flow now. Career success is coming...there is no need to panic!
Leo
Good news this month, Leo, as the Sun is in your Ninth House of travel and adventure and so you could be dusting off your suitcase now and preparing to take a trip somewhere exotic. If you can’t, then you may find that you feel as if you have a bad case of cabin fever, so at least consider a trip away, if only for a few days. It could also be that the Ninth House opens you up to new experiences so you could feel a little penned in or pinned down now and crave excitement. If you don’t get it however, then you could feel restless and start acting out if you feel bored just make sure that you don’t make any decisions that you will later regret! All in all, this is the ideal month for you to look at the big picture and plan some adventures, just make sure you are making plans for the right reasons and be aware that some things may just not work out as you originally intended. Still, that’s all part of the fun!
Virgo
It’s such a complicated month in the heavens for all signs, Virgo, and you may find that April is a little tricky to deal with. The issue is that you have the Sun in your private Eighth House, which means that you could be focused on everything that goes on beneath the surface. In past times you may have felt as if everyone was demanding your attention, and now you get the chance to really focus on who or what matters most to you. The Eighth House also rules sexual relationships, so if one of these, perhaps a clandestine one, has become complicated then you may want to take the time to finally figure things out once and for all. You could however be thwarted by the heavens, who want you to rest and recharge but who are also throwing up conflicting energy around you which urges you to zoom ahead while also taking things slow before you make decisions. As a result, you could struggle to find your groove this month so you need to remember that if you start to feel frustrated. Let the small stuff go in April.
Libra
Throughout much of the month of April you have the Sun in your Seventh House of committed partnerships Libra. Many of you may find that you commit to a new relationship this month, and it could be a business or romantic union of some kind. Around the New Moon on 5 April, you may find that you want to have a serious conversation with a partner to see where the relationship is going, and make some decisions accordingly. It may be, however, that whatever starts now takes some time to work out and you could spend the rest of the month working out some relationship kinks. This doesn’t mean that partnerships will suffer this month, but it is a good time to ask yourself what you want out of your unions and then strive to make these a reality. Just know that you need to keep communicating and that it may take a while to get on the same page as a partner.
Scorpio
The Sun is in your Sixth House of health and fitness this month, Scorpio, and this means that you could be eager to get back to your exercise regime or diet if this is something that slipped by the wayside in March. This is also a good time for you to think about your life in general and what wellness really means to you. There could be areas that you have neglected lately, and if everything feels a little out of balance, then there is no reason not to look at the 5 April New Moon as a chance to reset and recalibrate your life. It may be that you need to spend some time alone this month thinking about your life choices and where you want things to go in the future, but you also need to know that some of this may be a test run of sorts. It could be that you need much of the month to work out where you want to go and how, so don’t push for a complete lifestyle overall all at once. Patience is a virtue!
Sagittarius
Throughout March you have the Sun in your Fifth House of true love,, Sagittarius and so you may find that you are focused on the special people in your life. If a relationship has been a little rocky then now is the time when things could start to get back on track, or at least you may want to make a commitment around the time of the 5 April New Moon. You may find that you either want to make up or break up with someone close to you, and if you do then the universe will give you a helping hand. One thing to note is that your decisions will be re-tested around the time of the Full Moon on 19 April, so it may be that you will need to go back over old ground at that time. This month is slightly tricky for all signs as there is a lot of forward and backward motion going on now, so just make sure you are open and honest about how you feel with others, and avoid playing games or being flaky, Sagittarius!
Capricorn
The month of April sees the Sun in your Fourth House of family, Capricorn, and it could be that you have home related matters on the brain! This could be linked to the need to do something like home repairs, or you may want to move. With three planets (Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto) going retrograde over the coming months, then you may find that this is not the right time for something big like a move to a new neighborhood, but low level changes like doing some home repairs could be just what you need to move into the spring season. Just make sure that you read through any contracts this month and if possible put off signing anything until May when things seem to come together a little bit better than they will in April. One great activity however would be to spring clean your space around the time of the 5 April New Moon.
Aquarius
The Sun is in your Third House of communication this month, Aquarius, and this may mean that you have the desire to assert yourself more than you did in the month of March. This could also mean that you spend much of the month having some very important conversations with others, and something you discuss around the time of the New Moon on 5 April could end up being very significant moving forward. Just remember that a number of other planets this month are retrograde and so it could be that people are slow to follow up on their promises and it could take time for any verbal agreements to come to fruition. If that is the case then treat all your plans as a dress rehearsal and take the time to keep talking! Conversations now will bring great joy to your life, and if you work in a field where communication is key, such as public relations or sales, then you can expect some big breakthroughs throughout April.
Pisces
The Sun is in your Second House of money, Pisces, and so financial matters may be on your mind for much of April. It could be that you feel as if you have been hemorrhaging money for some time now, and if that is the case then this month gives you the opportunity to make a fresh start. It doesn’t mean that all your financial affairs will suddenly straighten themselves out, but you could find that you have a financial breakthrough as a new way to make or save money presents itself to you in April. Just make sure that you read through all the fine print before you sign on the dotted line, and keep looking for unexpected opportunities. They are there, but you need to be open and flexible if you want to make the most of them. You may also want to do some inner work around finances this month to figure out a new plan of action like a savings account or similar.
