Relax, It's Only a Parody

With only two presidential tickets competing in this year’s election, Indonesia is a polarized country where both sides of the supporters are engaging in aggressive debates over who is best to lead the country.
From blocking friends on social media, heated arguments during family gatherings, to physical fights, supporters of both candidates feel much is at stake when it comes to voting for the next president.
The Internet and the social media have played a great role in this election as well from spreading viral information to disseminating black propaganda. So it’s a rare treat to stumble into something like this parody video that invites both camps to laugh at their candidates.
The 7-minute video from Cameo Project has logged more than 600,000 views on YouTube. Cameo Project is also the group behind the viral cover version of One Direction’s song “What Makes You Beautiful” during Jokowi’s gubernatorial campaign.
Divided into six segments, the video makes light of sensitive issues to both candidates such as kidnapping (Prabowo Subianto) and puppet president (Joko Widodo).
In the introduction, they wrote: “We don’t know if it’s a positive or negative campaign. White or black campaign. Please judge yourself.”
